Difficult Times are Difficult to Deal With
We understand this perfectly and offer emotional and spiritual comfort to patients with terminal illnesses such as cancer, kidney failure, AIDS, Alzheimer’s, congestive heart failure, COPD, ALS among others. We offer counseling to such patients to help them cope with the disease and its treatment.
We have a competent team of staff that is in charge of offering emotional and spiritual comfort. The team is made up of the chaplain, social worker and specialists such as music therapist, counselor, and a registered dietician. Their primary aim is to ensure that the patient is comfortable. They will lend the patient a listening ear when he wants to talk about memories or life in general.
Our compassionate staff will also engage a patient in exercises that will enable the patient to think clearly and express their feelings. They will also motivate the patient to acquire new insights and thoughts, reflect on their achievements, write a journal, allow their creative juices to flow and write poetry or be artistic. Our employees can also apply humor and take part in a favorite activity with the patient so as to help a patient reduce stress and sharpen their focus.
Emotional comfort is important for patients because it helps them to realize that someone cares about them and that someone sees value in them and treats them as a human being. They can find love and contentment as well as confront and overcome their fears. This form of service is provided alongside curative treatment and is meant to enhance the quality of life of the patient and ensure that they have a wholesome and enjoyable life despite their illness.
